Xhiv Bogart - I was born in Guatemala to an Ixil Mayan family and adopted by Americans after the death of my birth mother when I was an infant. For the past ten years, I have been engaged in processing the question of identity through my art, particularly through painting, where the bright colors and detailed textures of my work evoke the vividness of Guatemalan craftwork.
